大西宇宙 Takaoki Onishi （バリトン Baritone）

2019年8月セイジ オザワ松本フェスティバル(OMF)のオペラ《エフゲニー・オネーギン》にてタイトルロールの代役を務め、日本でのオペラ公演デビュー。同年9月にはP.ヤルヴィ指揮NHK交響楽団オペラ《フィデリオ》に出演し、いずれも好評を博した。海外では、2019年1月ノースカロライナ歌劇場の《カルメン》、2020年には《道化師》（シルヴィオ役）に出演し絶賛された。また、カーネギーホールにてニューヨーク・オラトリオ協会主催のオルフ《カルミナ・ブラーナ》、シベリウス《クレルヴォ交響曲》のソリストを務め、2020年には《ドイツ・レクイエム》で出演。今後も国内外での活躍が期待される。

　第30回五島記念文化賞 オペラ新人賞、第30回日本製鉄音楽賞フレッシュアーティスト賞を受賞。

　アメリカのやヨーロッパの様々なコンクールで優勝及び入賞を重ね、2018年12月にはPremiereオペラ財団国際声楽コンクールで優勝し、同時にホロストフスキー記念特別賞を受賞。

　シカゴ・リリック歌劇場ライアン・オペラ・センターに所属し、世界初演《ベル・カント》でデビューしその様子が公営放送で全米に放映されたほか、《エフゲニー・オネーギン》《カルメン》《トロイアの人々》他、数多くのオペラに出演している。

　日本では、近年各地でベートーヴェン交響曲第9番のソリストを務めているほか、広 上 淳 一 指 揮 《 ド イ ツ ・ レ ク イ エ ム 》( 2 0 1 6 ) 、ミ ハ イ ル ・ プ レ ト ニ ョ フ 指 揮 ロ シ ア ・ ナ シ ョ ナ ル 管 弦 楽 団 チ ャ イ コ フ ス キ ー ・ オ ペ ラ 《 イ オ ラ ン タ 》、 高 関 健 指 揮 京 都 市 交 響 楽 団 ブ リ テ ン 《 戦 争 レ ク イ エ ム 》( 以 上 2 0 1 8 ) な ど に 出 演 。 2 0 1 9 年 1 2 月 は 広 上 指 揮 日 本 フィル および 飯 森 指 揮 山 形 交 響 楽 団 の《 第9》、2 0 2 0 年1月3日の バッティストー ニ指揮第63回NHKニューイヤー・オペラコンサートと続けて出演した。2月には飯 森 指 揮 い ず み シ ン フ ォ ニ エ ッ タ 大 阪 と 、マ ー ラ ー の 《 大 地 の 歌 》 を 初演し絶賛された。

　武蔵野音楽大学及び大学院を卒業。ジュリアード音楽院声楽科及びアーティスト・ディプロマに特待生として留学。修了時にオペラ科を代表しデ・ローザ賞を授与された。

 

 

 

Baritone Takaoki Onishi is quickly gaining recognition as one of the most talented singers of his generation. He recently made his successful debut as the title role in Eugene Onegin at Seiji Ozawa Festival under the baton of Fabio Luisi, making him the first Japanese singer ever to sing the leading role in the festival. 2019-20 season’s engagements include Don Fernando in Fidelio with NHK Symphony Orchestra, a role debut as Silvio in I pagliacci at North Carolina Opera, Ein Deutsches Requiem at Carnegie Hall, and the company debut in Madame Butterfly at Opera Philadelphia. He also returns to his native Japan for various concerts, including Carmina Burana, Beethoven’s 9th Symphony, and Das Lied von der Erde.

 

As an ensemble member of Lyric Opera of Chicago, Mr. Onishi performed and covered diverse roles in many operas including I puritani, Les pêcheurs de perles, Les Troyens, and Carmen. During his tenure, he also sang Mahler’s Songs of a Wayfarer with the Elgin Symphony, as well as Roberto Sierra’s Missa Latina at the Grant Park Music Festival. Last season in Chicago, Mr. Onishi shared a recital program with Renée Fleming and appeared in a Gala tribute to Plácido Domingo.

 

In his debut with the company, during the 2015-16 season, he created the role of Father Arguedas in the world premiere performances of Bel Canto, a production that was recorded and later telecast on PBS.

 

 

He also has had an impressive series of successes in major vocal competitions. He was the inaugural First Prize winner of the IFAC-Juilliard Prize Singing Competition in Japan, which provided him a full scholarship to attend The Juilliard School. In just one year (2013), he won the Top Prize in the Gerda Lissner International Vocal Competition, and the First Prize in both the Opera Index, Inc. Vocal Competition and the Licia Albanese-Puccini International Vocal Competition. Mr. Onishi recently won both Grand Prize and Dmitri Hvorostovsky Memorial Grant in Premiere Opera Foundation Competition.
